Institution Overview

Kolej MDIS Malaysia is the second overseas campus of the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS). The ground-breaking ceremony in September 2013 was officiated by the then Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education of Malaysia, YAB Tan Sri Dato Hj. Muhyiddin bin Hj. Mohd Yassin.

Kolej MDIS Malaysia was the first private tertiary institution of Singapore to establish a presence in EduCity Iskandar, Johor, following MDIS’ landmark agreement with EduCity Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd—marking the first major commitment by a Singapore private education group in the Iskandar special economic zone.

The RM300 million project was carried out in three phases: first to allow the campus to cater to some 2,000 students, and upon completion of the third phase, the integrated campus will be able to accommodate over 10,000 students. With the completion of the new campus at EduCity Iskandar, Johor, in December 2020, Kolej MDIS Malaysia is now one of the important landmarks in EduCity Iskandar.

Based on my viewpoint, MDIS Malaysia is a growing college that is improving throughout the time like the facilities for libraries or classroom. Therefore, the college arranges various workshops to encourage students to participate for example Prepare for Career Success and Winning Resumes and Interviewing Skills. Thus, these workshops can prepare students for working environment in the future. After that, MDIS Malaysia will conduct events to entertain students for instance Halloween and Malaysia day which students and management are able to celebrate together.

Having studied at Management Development Institute Singapore (MDIS) Malaysia, I found the experience to be positive. Kolej MDIS Malaysia offers qualified faculty, modern facilities, hands-on learning opportunities and a supportive learning environment. Students can also participate in internship, industry projects and study abroad programs to enhance their skills and prepare them for successfully careers. Kolej MDIS Malaysia is an excellent option for higher education in Malaysia, but students’ experiences may differ based on their program and goals.

Everything is new to me as a newcomer to not only MDIS Malaysia, but the entire country. As an International Student, I imagined it to be more difficult for me to go to MDIS Malaysia during the pandemic, but everything went easily and professionally, with all of the staff aiding and the school doing everything they could support me. So far, it’s been an amazing experience for me, and I hope we can keep it going and make it even better for not only myself, but for all of the youngsters who attend and have a great time despite being far from home and their comfort zone.

Diploma in Tourism Management

This is my 3rd year as diploma student at MDIS Malaysia and I have one last semester to go. I have a lot of great experiences since the first day of my face to face class. I had the chance to meet new friends from different cultures, experiencing several exciting events that were arranged by MDIS and a lot more. My friends and I were also had the opportunities to arrange an event and a trip for MDIS students which was an amazing experience that we won’t forget (thanks to MDIS Malaysia). Overall, MDIS Malaysia is a wonderful college.

Facilities and Initiatives

Located in the education hub of the fully integrated EduCity Iskandar, Kolej MDIS Malaysia’s iconic campus spans over 30 acres and features state-of-the-art infrastructure, campus-wide Wi-Fi connectivity, fully equipped classrooms, lecture theatres, computer labs, a multipurpose hall, an auditorium, sporting facilities, ample parking, 24/7 security, and a full-fledged on-campus hostel.

The campus also embraces eco-friendly initiatives, where approximately 40 per cent of the land area is allocated for green features such as solar panels, rainwater harvesting tanks, and glare shields—helping to maximise water and electricity savings.

Students from MDIS campuses in Singapore, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan may enjoy opportunities to experience transnational education. With campuses in four locations, students gain wider exposure and a more global perspective.

Integrated Campus

The MDIS Residences @ EduCity Iskandar, Johor is an on-campus hostel comprising 581 rooms, a student lounge, 24/7 security, a mini park, a laundry room, and Wi-Fi connectivity. It is located just 50 metres from the EduCity Sports Complex.

The on-campus hostel supports comfortable living while encouraging group living, self-governance, and self-discipline—key skills for university life and beyond.

Teaching Methodology

Students at Kolej MDIS Malaysia are prepared for work in the 21st century and the era of IR4.0, developing critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

The Kolej supports an enriching learning journey through a blended learning approach that caters to different learning preferences while strengthening practical workplace readiness.

Academic Programmes

Kolej MDIS Malaysia offers courses in Business, Finance, Banking, Marketing, International Business, Accounting, Tourism and Hospitality, Mass Communication, Information Technology and Digital Media.

All programmes are industry-focused and provide a lifelong learning pathway for career advancement. Home-grown programmes are accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), while the 3+0 UK Degree programmes in collaboration with Bangor University and the University of Sunderland are accredited by MQA and the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) of the UK.

Stakeholder Engagement

To remain relevant, Kolej MDIS Malaysia actively engages key industry players and stakeholders through dialogue sessions with industry experts and collaboration with trade organisations. The Kolej also keeps secondary school counsellors updated on developments across industries.
