MSU 36th Convocation Ceremony

SHAH ALAM, 6 December 2025 – In celebrating a strong culture of excellence among its graduates, Management and Science University (MSU) marks its 36th Convocation Ceremony with a total of 2,453 graduates from 128 academic programmes receiving their respective scrolls at the MSU Chancellor Hall. The ceremony is held over four sessions across two days, beginning today and tomorrow. with 41 graduates receiving Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees, 65 receiving Master’s degrees, 1,517 receiving Bachelor’s degrees, and 830 receiving Diplomas.

?This convocation also marks the graduation of the first cohorts from three programmes: the Bachelor in Economics and Finance (Honours), Advanced Diploma in Midwifery, and Diploma in Music.?

Gracing and officiating the 36th MSU Convocation Ceremony was MSU Chancellor, His Royal Highness Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Ibni Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin, Raja Muda of Kedah. Present were MSU President and Founder, Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab. Yajid; MSU Pro-Chancellor Professor Emeritus Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Zaini Ujang; MSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Puan Sri Datuk Dr Junainah Abd Hamid; members of the University Board of Governors; and senior university management.?

The 36th Convocation also witnessed the appointment of Prof. Emeritus Dato' Seri Ir. Dr. Zaini Ujang as the second Pro-Chancellor of MSU. With his distinguished service and expertise in the public sector, education, energy, environment, and health, alongside his recognition as a leading figure in environmental engineering. His appointment is expected to further enhance MSU’s development and reinforce its standing in higher education nationally and globally.?

Five categories of special excellence awards are presented to 70 graduates who will receive contributions from the MSU Foundation in the form of plaques, cash prizes, and scholarships to pursue further studies at MSU, in recognition of their overall academic and co-curricular achievements throughout their studies.?

They include the recipients of the Chancellor’s Gold Medal Award: Theebana Durairajh, Bachelor in Computer Science (Hons); the President’s Award: Nurin Amalia Kamarul Sahrin, Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Honours), and Nur Sabrina Malek, Diploma in Management; the Mohd Shukri Yajid Outstanding Award: Wardena Ningseh Abdul Malek, Bachelor in Cardiovascular Technology (Honours). In addition, 37 graduates will receive the Academic Award, and 29 graduates will receive the Industry Award.?

Industry partners contributing to the Industry Awards include MSU Medical Centre, MSU Pharma Sdn Bhd, Betelcare Sdn Bhd, Affin Islamic Bank Berhad, ACCA Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Institut Jantung Negara, OSK Group, Focus Point Vision Care Group Sdn Bhd, Mahsuri Food Sdn Bhd, Pharmaniaga Berhad, Foto Unigraduate Sdn Bhd, Anlene Malaysia, Primer Cherang Clinic Johor Bahru, Dunlopillo Malaysia Sdn Bhd, BilaBila Retail Sdn Bhd, BJC Foods (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Malaysia HR Forum, Beststar Travel Centre Sdn Bhd, Hazara Boutique, Primo Qatalyst Sdn Bhd, Ridge Biomed Sdn Bhd, Mestari Adjusters Sdn Bhd, Joshafa Sdn Bhd, Mas Awana Services Sdn Bhd, Prince Agency (AIA), Lakaran Tuah Sdn Bhd, as well as NRG Capital Sdn Bhd.

The strong strategic collaboration between MSU and over 3,000 industry partners particularly through the University Industry Advisory Panel (UIAP) has contributed immensely to MSU’s delivery of high-quality and industry-relevant academic and TVET programmes. This achievement led to MSU being named ASEAN’s Most Transformative & Impactful TVET University at the Malaysia Education & TVET Awards 2025.

MSU has undertaken extensive transformation initiatives to remain at the forefront of national and global higher education. Its effectiveness is reflected through various indicators, including graduate employability and industry engagement, entrepreneurship, internationalisation, research, community sustainability initiatives, flexible learning, and lifelong education.

According to the 2024 Graduate Tracer Study by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), MSU recorded a Graduate Employability rate (GE) of 99.7% and a Graduate Employment (GM) rate of 99%, placing it among the highest in Malaysia. This accomplishment is further strengthened by Talentbank through the National Graduate Employability Index (GE Index), naming MSU as The Employers' Choice of University 2025. These indicators highlight the effectiveness of MSU’s teaching and learning approach in producing graduates who are not only job-ready but also future-ready to meet evolving global demands.

Most recently, MSU received a 5-star QS Stars Rated Excellence achievement across nine metrics: Teaching; Facilities; Graduate Employability; Good Governance; Social Impact; Academic Development; Global Engagement; Hospitality and Leisure Management; and Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion.

Over more than four decades, MSU has achieved numerous global recognitions, including ranking #597 in the QS World University Rankings (WUR) 2026, #601–800 in THE WUR 2026, #125 in QS WUR: Asia 2026, #30 in QS WUR: Asia – Southeast Asia 2026, Top 100 globally in the Top 50 Under 50 Rankings, and #301–500 in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings.

In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), MSU is ranked #101–200 in THE Impact Rankings 2025, #1051–1060 in QS WUR: Sustainability 2026 as well as named the Engaged & Sustainable University of the Year 2024 by the Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial & Engaged Universities (ACEEU).

MSU’s academic excellence is further demonstrated through the QS WUR by Subject 2025, with Hospitality & Leisure Management ranked 36th in the world and 2nd in Malaysia, and Art & Design ranked within the Top 51–100 globally and No. 1 in Malaysia. The university also achieved global rankings for Business & Management Studies (#250 worldwide, No. 5 in Malaysia), Computer Science & Information Systems (#701–750 worldwide, No. 20 in Malaysia), and for the first time, Medicine (#701–850 worldwide, No. 20 in Malaysia).
