Course Overview

This Foundation in Science programme is designed to give you a strong start in your chosen Health Sciences field. By combining a variety of subjects, our FIS acts as a critical academic bridge, providing you with the essential knowledge base required for a seamless transition into the rigorous demands of undergraduate studies.

This 1-year programme will empower you with key foundational knowledge and offer mentorship to enhance your study and learning abilities.

Semester 1

Semester 2

Subjects:

• English II
• Fundamentals of Statistics
• General Chemistry
• Introduction to Psychology
• Basic Human Anatomy

Semester 3

Subjects:

• Basic Human Physiology
• Organic Chemistry
• Fundamentals of ICT
• Basic Pharmacology

Elective Subjects (Choose One):

• Oral Biology
• Introduction to Forensic Science
• Principles of Health Care Management

Entry Requirements

Malaysian Applicants

SPM or Equivalent with a Grade B in:

• Biology
• Chemistry
• Physics
• Mathematics / Additional Mathematics
• Any Other Subject* (except Art/Humanities)

UEC with a Minimum of B4 in:

• Biology
• Chemistry
• Physics / Mathematics / Additional Mathematics

Important Notices:

1. For students intending to pursue other science-related programmes after completing the FIS programme:
   SPM or equivalent with 5 credits, including Mathematics and two (2) Science subjects (Biology/Chemistry/Physics).
2. For those applying to medical and dental programmes:
   Entry requirements are subject to revision by regulatory authorities.
3. Minimum age for admission to a medical programme:
   Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
4. For Malaysian citizens seeking public sector employment:
   You must meet the criteria set by the Public Services Commission of Malaysia (SPA).

For dental programme aspirants, the following subjects are not considered as part of ‘Any Other Subject’ in SPM/O Level or equivalent:
