Course Overview

This programme is specifically designed to provide students with: knowledge and practical expertise in media and communication aligned with industry requirements; effective communication and leadership qualities; the capability to analyse and solve media and communication issues innovatively, creatively and ethically; and entrepreneurship skills with recognition of lifelong learning for career advancement. The programme encompasses both traditional and digital communication techniques, preparing students for modern intercultural communication challenges and careers in Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, Communications, Social Media and more.

Curriculum

  • Degree Level 1: Intercultural Communication, Introduction to Graphic Design, Digital Illustration, Marketing Fundamentals, Consumer Behaviour and Creative Practice, Fundamental of Entrepreneurship, Core Concepts in Communication Theories, Principles of Advertising, Contemporary Media Studies, Public Relations 1.
  • Degree Level 2: Visual Culture, Innovation Processes, Strategic Event Planning and Management, Public Relations 2, Social Media, Researching Media and Communication, Journalism, Political Communication, plus one elective (Copywriting and Creative Direction OR Digital and Experiential Advertising). Includes a 16-week Internship.
  • Degree Level 3: Integrated Marketing Communications Practice, Venture Building, Crisis Communications, Audiences and Fandom, Investigations in Media and Communication Studies, Broadcast Journalism, Global Advertising Practices, Media and Communication Project, plus one elective (Communication Audit and Strategy OR Persuasive Copywriting), plus MQA Compulsory Subjects.

Entry Requirements

Direct Entry to Level 1 of the Degree

  • STPM: 2 Passes in STPM with a minimum Grade C (GP 2.0) and a Credit in English at SPM Level or its equivalent.
  • A-Level: 2 Passes (Grade A-D) in A-Level in any 2 subjects, and a Credit in English at SPM/O-Level/ IGCSE or its equivalent.
  • UEC: 5 Grade B's in UEC including English.
  • Matriculation/Foundation: Passed Foundation programme (minimum CGPA of 2.0) with a Credit in English at SPM/O-Level/IGCSE or equivalent.

Entry to Level 2 of the Degree

  • Diploma: A Diploma and its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.0 and a Credit in English at SPM/O-Level/IGCSE or its equivalent. OR Diploma in Media & Communication or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.0.

Note: The credit requirement at SPM/IGCSE level can be waived should the grades obtained at the STPM/STAM/Diploma/Matriculation/Foundation level are equivalent/higher.

English Requirements (International Students)
