The need for quantity surveyors is vital for the efficient financial management of construction projects. As a partner university of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the School is instrumental in meeting the educational needs of quantity surveying graduates by building on their previous education and experience to prepare them for the demands of this profession.
There is consistent competition amongst those wishing to enter and develop a career in quantity surveying in order to gain an internationally recognised postgraduate qualification, such as the MSc from Heriot-Watt University. Successful completion of the programme develops the necessary skills to provide a quality benchmark recognised by prospective employers to enhance an individual’s career progression.
In accordance with our normal practice our professionally orientated programmes are designed to meet the educational requirements for membership of relevant professional institutions. In addition to accreditation within Malaysia, we seek accreditation by the relevant UK or international professional bodies in accordance with their standard procedures.
This programme is accredited by the (RICS) and (ICES)
A first or second class Honours degree (or equivalent) in quantity surveying or a related subject. Relevant industrial experience may also be considered
The programme is focused on delivering high quality graduates for Quantity Surveying and Built Environment consultancies. However, it is expected that some graduates will find employment within government agencies and with contracting organisations. A minority of graduates will find employment elsewhere such as PhD research, teaching, finance and the military.
