Course Overview

This is a research-based Ph.D programme which aims to produce graduates with the knowledge and skills related to English language studies and literary studies. The programme focuses on developing students’ research skills to carry out research on issues related to the use of English Language in various contexts. The graduates of this programme are well-equipped for careers in academia or research either in the government or the private sector.

Entry Requirements

Minimum Entry Requirements

• A Master's Degree (Level 7 Malaysian Qualifications Framework, MQF) in English or equivalent as approved by the HEP Senate.

English Language Requirements

1) Malaysian Students

• MUET Band 4.0/ IELTS Band 6.0/ CEFR Mid B2/ TOELF iBT 60/ equivalent ; OR

• Exemption of English Language requirement if the medium of instruction during Master studies was in English

2) International Students

• IELTS Band 6.0/ CEFR Mid B2/ TOEFL iBT 60/ equivalent; OR

• Exemption of English Language requirement if the medium of instruction during Master studies was in English
