Course Overview

Early Childhood examines the life of pre-school children and the way they grow up which has direct influence on their overall development to adulthood and their well being as adult. 

The early experiences of pre-school children such as the relationship their parents bond with them and their early growing up experiences deeply affect their emotion, physical, cognitive, and social development. Healthy experiences of the lives of pre-school children will ensure the successes of their future. 

The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Honours) aims to develop early childhood education professionals who are well equipped with the relevant knowledge and skills and the ability to contribute to the growth of early childhood education in Malaysia. 

It will build among students an in-depth knowledge and appreciation of the concepts, theories and application of early childhood education, and instill in them the values of professionalism and ethical conduct and best practices.

Entry Requirements

STPM A minimum of Grade C in any 2 subjects 

STAM A minimum grade of Jayyid 

A-Level A minimum of Grade D in any 2 subjects 

UEC Grade B in 5 subjects 

SAM Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) 70 and Grade B in any 2 subjects 

CPU An average of 70% in any 6 subjects

International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Diploma with a minimum of 24 points (excluding bonus points)

TVET Dplomas: Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) / Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) / Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM) in Early Childhood Education fields. 1. Must be fully accredited by MQA. 2. DKM/DVM/DLKM in Early Childhood Education with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or CGPA 2.00 with at least 2 years working experience in relevant field, subject to Senate / Academic Board’s approval. 3. Applicants will be required to pass the admission screening process conducted by the faculty and undergo the Bridging programme, if necessary, during the period of their study in addition to the existing curriculum structure. 4. Credit transfer can be considered on a case-to-case basis and subject to existing credit transfer policies which are in effect.

Foundation from UTAR Matriculation / Foundation from other Institutions of Higher Learning Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Level 4, MQF) or its equivalent Diploma (Level 4, MQF) in any field or its equivalent: Mininum CGPA of 2.00

Other relevant equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government as equivalent to the above requirements
