Third semester Music Education, (2009-2010)
“My first impression of UPSI was very good and I find it a very good place to study here. UPSI is a peaceful place with all the facilities you need. It is so comfortable and I enjoy peace of mind every day. Although the weather is so different from China, I really enjoy the wet tropical rain and the forests which give me a fascinating experience.
As part of the first group of Chinese students in this university, communication was a problem at the beginning as I could not understand Malay and had minimal English skills. It is also quite hard to understand the local Chinese dialect. But what they say about Malaysians is true – they are truly friendly people. If not, I wouldn’t be able to understand and learn to speak a few lines of Malay and improve my English.
Music has taught me how to respect, communicate and work together with people. It has been a great experience whenever I perform in the university’s orchestra which has provided me knowledge not just in music. They are kind and helpful people and will lend a hand whenever you need it. It’s only little over a year and I have already fallen in love with the university, the country, and the people. Hopefully, I will continue to have a positive experience every single day. I have made a promise to myself to give my best until my graduation day “.
