  March 2011 – I became a part of Yamaha Academy of Arts and Music (YAAM) pursuing Diploma in Music, a three-year course that develops our musical skills, performance studies, writing skills and creativity.

  Three years might be a long period of time for someone, but for me, I learnt a lot during this time. Yamaha Academy of Arts and Music provides subjects that encourage students to explore and utilise their interests and capabilities.

  Performance has always been my first interest since I first started music lessons at the age of four. At Yamaha Academy of Arts and Music, a platform is provided for students to perform on different occasions, such as during concerts and competitions. Students gain experience and exposure through all the opportunities offered here.

  After graduating from Yamaha Academy of Arts and Music, I pursued my degree at the University of Middlesex, UK; majoring in Performance in Music. My educational experience at University of Middlesex was beyond what I expected. Besides all the course work and assignments, the university also exposed me to real-world issues such as employment, music business and sociology. I was able to meet musicians from around the world, sharing our thoughts on music.

  During my studies there, I developed skills in critical thinking, research, presentation, collaboration, leadership and performance all of which are relevant to my future career. I also worked with a well-known string quartet, Allegri in collaborative performances at churches and musical halls. It was no doubt a fun and memorable experience. In July 2015, I graduated with Second Upper Class Honours. All my hard work had paid off in the best way I could ever wish for. My passion for performing never ends. I decided to pursue a Master of Music in Performance and Related Studies at Goldsmiths University, UK in September 2016. I hope what I have learnt all these years will lead me to the path of success. Education is the key to the future, it will never be too late to learn.
